To start Vortex, simply double click on it's icon in the finder.
When you see the title screen, selected "Play" from the file menu OR click on the "Enter The Vortex" button.
That's it! If this is your first time playing Vortex, your controls will be at the factory default.
Vortex only playable by the mouse. Sorry, but keyboard controls just don't supply enough precision to play Vortex.
There are two types of mouse controls, the "natural" feel and a "left/right" feel.
The "natural" controls is just what it's title says... it conforms to the natural way you would expect to move a icon on the screen.
The "left/right" controls move the hRider along the following parameters... When you move the mouse to the left, the hRider rotates counter-clockwise around the Vortex. When you move the mouse to the right, it rotates clockwise around the Vortex.
The best way to choose a control to play with is to try a few games with both choices, and choose the one which is most comfortable for you.
Your goal is to destroy all of the barriers on each level, allowing you to advance further into the Vortex. You do this by bouncing the AGEB (Anti-Gravity Explosive Ball) between your hRider and the barrier blocks. Be careful not to miss the AGEB, however, or your hRider will automatically self-destruct!
When you destroy all of the barrier blocks, you advance a level into the Vortex.
When you begin a level, your AGEB is attached to your hRider for a short period of time. If you wish to release the AGEB prematurely, click the mouse (fire) button.
During the game, you will notice several plug-in modules falling down into the Vortex. If you can snag these, they will expand the capabilities of you hRider. For more info, check out the technical specs section of this manual.
Unfortunately, you are not alone in the Vortex. Aliens are using it as a means of transportation and are also looking to keep you from traveling the Vortex. Don't expect them to be friendly!
You can customize many of Vortex's features. Please refer to the troubleshooting section of this manual for more information.
